FEVER! has been written, illustrated, designed, and published in an edition of 100, to coincide with the exhibition of 17 of the paintings it contains at City Art Depot, in the show of the same name. However, this volume contains far more: a multitude of paintings, drawings, and other material hitherto unpublished and unseen. It also contains essays from Nick Harte, Jane Wallace and Susana Persad, an interview between Henry Turner and Cameron Ralston, a letter and a remarkable didactic text by Oliver Briggs; a tour d'horizon of the Canterbury Plains by Suzanne Pickford; and extracts from J. G. Frazer and Angelo Poliziano. This remarkable book is available upon subscription, and shortly at Scorpio Books.
Deep Gold, 2019
Part science fiction adventure, part historical drama, part contemporary narrative of botched colonisation, part exhibition catalogue; this narrative by an unknown writer follows the unhappy fate of a ship sailing the Southern Ocean in quest of Terra Nullius. Published to accompany DEEP GOLD at City Art Depot and lavishly illustrated, this book represents a wholly new direction in the oeuvre of Henry Turner. Deep Gold is in an edition of 99 (in green and purple), and copies are available at Scorpio Books in Christchurch and at City Art Depot.
